Rodolfo Vera Quizon, Sr. was born on July 25, 1928 in Pampanga but raised in Tondo, Manila. His parents are Melencio Espinosa-Quizon and Salud Vera-Quizon. Doplhy is famous for his comedy role in television and movie industry, Dolphy – King of Commedy. He entertained his audience by sharing jokes and happy moments.
He is also an effective endorser in product commercial, where he belongs to highest paid artist.
He is known for a being a father of more than a dozen kids in different woman. At present, she is together with her partner ZhaZha Padilla.
He started being a stage performer during the Japanese settlement in the Philippines and later on performed in the comedy films. It was in 1966, where he opened for the Beatles at Rizal Stadium in Manila.
In 2001, Dolphy together with his two sons Eric and Jeffrey Quizon won the Prix de la Meilleure Interpretation for playing Walterina Markova in the movie “Markova:Comfort Gay” in Brussels, Belgium.
Last July 25, 2008, during the celebration of his 80th birthday, was also the launching of his book “Dolphy, Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa (Dolphy, I Didn’t Get Here All By Myself)”. It was Bibeth Orteza commissioned to complete the biography. Dolphy also created a non-profit organization called “Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation, Inc.”.
July 28, 2008, the ABS-CBN pays tribute to Dolphy by making Studio 1 to “Dolphy Theatre”. In August 3, 2008, the celebration of Kapamilya’s “The King of Comedy at 80” was held at the Meralco Theatre.
